San Gabriel Mountains National Monument Expansion
Elected officials, community leaders, and local residents in the Los Angeles region are calling on President Biden to add 109,000 acres of public lands to expand the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument. This area is one of the most visited parts of the forest: in 2021 the forest welcomed 4.6 million visitors (more than the Grand Canyon or Yosemite National Park). Since the San Gabriel Mountain range is one of the few local spaces for Angelenos to enjoy the outdoors, a national monument would ensure public access to nature for historically underserved nearby communities.
